9/11 has two very memorable moments that will forever be engraved in my mind and heart. In 2001, I sat in shock while our strong, beautiful country was under attack and I vividly recall the twin towers falling. In stark contrast, on 9/11/2010 I was in the hospital delivering my beautiful “twin powers”.
Lulu and Dassie were specially designed to be a pair. I jokingly say the Lord made one and could not help but show-off with the other. They have the whole “twin thing” going on and they finish each other’s sentences. It is adorable because they have the cutest giggle as they shout at each other, “Jinx, double-jinx, triple jinx, quadruple jinx, five-time jinx…” Hehehe, they are as beautiful as they are funny.
These twins are horse riding, chicken chasing, rabbit crazed, dog loving cowgirls. You know the saying, “Were you raised in a barn?” Yes, basically the twins live out in ours so it was easy to come up with the theme of their 7th birthday party …. all things cowgirl!
Klo-Klo (our 9-year-old daughter) was the perfect party planner because she is all country. I didn’t ask many questions (I was too busy laughing at the ideas). They had on the list: Line-dancing in the barn, Pinata Smashing, Pin the Tail on the Donkey and Three-Legged Race (while carrying an egg on a spoon). Of course they involved the barnyard animals with: Who Can Catch the Rooster, Mini Horse Rides and Put the Bunnies to Sleep. That’s right, they kept everyone busy with good ol’ country fun.
The twins requested this delicious cowboy/girl chili. I made two roasters full and we served it with corn bread and watermelon. I will be adding soon a new food category to our family blog which will include all our favorite recipes. You can count on cowboy/girl chili being one of the first recipes added.
I hope my party planner, along with the twins inspire your next cowgirl party. Yee-Haw, Partner!!
